Notes from the August meeting.
Hello Folks! We got a
lot accomplished last night!
1.
Teen summer reading report: 128 people signed up
(some took forms without signing up), a total of 328 slips were turned in for
prizes.
2.
SRP costs- we started with @$800 from the TAB
garage sale this spring. We have $240
left after all the SRP prizes, coupons and 2 $50 gift certificate grand prizes purchases.
3.
We talked about what programs/events we would
like to do this fall and winter. While
the Fall Festival was a big hit last October, we didn’t think it was doable
with our funds. It was decided that
since we help already at the Winter Walk with the model trains, we will focus
more on that and make a really cool gingerbread house/library for the TAB
train. We may get cookies (some gluten
free also) to sell. We may also make
pompom ball snowmen to sell. Anyway-
please set time aside for creating the gingerbread house and snowmen the 2
weeks before the Winter Walk on Dec. 12.
4.
We thought of purchasing a button maker to
create buttons at events like the Winter Walk.
Kathy checked into the prices of the button making machines and had a
price sticker shock! The one like we
have used is $299 plus $36 for the supplies.
She thinks it would be best to use the SELCO button maker, we may have
to get our own supplies since we run out of the ones they send with the
kit. Is that ok with everyone??
5.
Voting for new president! Our presidential candidate forum will be at
our next meeting Sept. 9th at 6:30.
We will vote that evening, the person with the second most votes will be
VP. We will have to amend our bylaws and remove the treasure and secretary
positions as discussed.
Here is the description
of the positions from our bylaws.
B)
The president of TAB will work closely with the TAB advisor to organize TAB
meetings. The TAB advisor will assist
the president in creating the meeting agenda and will preside over TAB meetings. The president will act as the contact person
for other TAB members who want items added to the agenda.
C) The vice-president will serve as the
president in his or her absence. The vice-president
will serve as membership coordinator, keeping track of active and inactive
members and new applications. They will
be in charge of promoting and recruitment of new membership. The vice-president will inform and remind all
members of upcoming meetings, programs and special events.
6.
Future plans- we thought about ways to make
money. We can decide to do the GOODS FOR
GOODS sale again if we want, I think we have to decide in April. We also thought of having a book fair- maybe
Scholastic or something else. The
company gives the best deal by giving books to the hosts vs cash. We could use the books we earn for 2014
summer reading program prizes! Kathy
will research this and report in Sept.
7.
We will work up some PR on the library e
resources to pass around at the MS/HS plus some posters. If you haven’t checked them out go to www.northfield.mn.us click on e-library
and page down to LEARNING EXPRESS.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the following meetings! They are always Mondays at 6:30 in the
library’s meeting room.
